Yes, I know some out there are oh so "1337" that they won't touch anything that isn't Meta.
So if that describes you, feel free to move along to whatever topic caters to your tastes.
This topic? It's for those of us who actually don't always (or in some cases, never) real give a crap what the Meta is. What the Mech of the Month is deemed to be. It's for the aberrant, the iconoclasts, the Mech-Hipsters. For lore nuts, fluffhuggers, etc.
You wanna impress us with your Comp? Go take a non optimized mech and go forth and dominate. If you're as all that as you claim, you ought to be able to take a stock Kitfox and become King of Puglandia.
Now, back to those of us who actually play games to have fun......
For me? It's the Summoner. Summoner Prime to be exact.
Spoiler
It's not a outright "bad" Mech, though it is hands down the weakest Clan Heavy. And I can totally outclass it in any IS Heavy beside the Quickdraw or Catapult.
Wasn't always so. When TRO3050 dropped back in what, 1990? The Mad Dog was the sexiest thing in it. My fave Omni Miniature too, by a lot. But.... down in Walnut Creek, we had a Virtual World. And there, I learned to love the "Thor", and by a lot. Those JJs were huge, as was the ballistics.
Went thru MW2, and MW3, and the Summoner was....OK, but not amazing. Then MW4 came out, and it became my go to chassis, at least until missions required a heavier mech, then, I rocked the Victor. (Very much the Inner Sphere equivalent in MW4).
Then came MWO. When I first saw Alex's concept art? Not amazed. Still think the legs are too stocky, and the canopy bubble a little too big. But it's one of the few I actually like the in game model better than the art. And while undergunned, I like it's (even nerfed) Mobility. In fact, it's the only Heavy Mech, I actually still pilot, with any regularity. And the sole reason I still even play my Clan Acct, TBH.
And yes, I run bad builds, LOL. I own 2 SMN-P, one which is dead stock except for cosmetics, and the second, I swap the LRM15 for a SSRM6 and ERSL, plus 1 ton more LBX ammo. But keep the stock armor. Can never decide which I prefer, as those LRMs often are very handy early in the match.... but dang does the ammo go fast on my LBX. If I had Endo on it? I'd ad 2 tons of ammo to my LB-X, and 1.5 tons of armor...and that's it. I love the stock loadout that much.
What about you? Awesome? Catapult? Orion? Mist Lynx? What Bad do you Love?
*EDIT* And what changes would you enact to them if you were given PGI's Magic Wand?
For my Summoner? First would be to unlock Endo. Not having it really does relegate mechs to second string in most cases. And 3.5 tons more would open amazing possibilities for the SMN, though as noted, I'd just run an "improved" Prime, anyhow.
The other thing? I'd unnerf it's JJs to get it pre-nerf Victor type mobility.
Oooh...a third thing? Since it's so hardpoint starved, allow it to mount Lower Arm Actuators with Autocannons and PPC. That would aid it's practical agility immensely, also.
Quickdraw.
It wouldn't be THAT bad if it wasn't bigger than some assault mechs. And as you probably know, i do ***** a lot about it: from the way it got shafted during the concept --> ingame model transition (probably got beaten with the ugly stick the most of all mechs during it), to its "I shat my pants" animations and the broken CT jumpjet port (it's there on the model, but it just doesn't work).
I'll always love my Awesomes. 8Q is decent now, but my 8R Honey Badger is still my favorite "bad" mech. Most 8Rs run LRMs and they're really good at it, but nothing beats the thrill of chasing down your prey, seeing them driven before you, and hearing the lamentation of their pilot under a hail of Artemis SRM fire

The Trebuchet 7K has always been one of my favorites. I run the stupidest build (LB-10X, ERLL, 2x SSRM-2) and still somehow have fun with it.
I really love my Adders and Summoner as well.
Used to love my BlackJack but then the gauss charge mechanic hit (was running a Shadowcat Prime imitation build).

Summoner is "bad", but not actually bad. It is much better Heavy mech than the A1 I whip out time to time.
Won't argue that. As I noted in my "spoiler" I'd call the SMN superior to the Quickdraw and the Catapult. But pretty much inferior to a decently built example of any other Heavy Chassis.

I still love that dork.
The size..and TBH, to me it also feels pretty clumsy. And man do I hate how bad JJs are in this game.

man..used to really like my 7K. UAC5, ERPPC and 2x SSRM2, I think? Might match your's for badness. But for some reason during open Beta, I fell away and never found that love again. (Oddly, the ShadowHawk and Griffin also have gone through brief and tempestuous affairs..and now are largely forgotten. Whereas my HBKs and CN9s are still daily drivers. Go figure)

My favorite worst mech...... well Strider is on the list along with Sentinel and Wolftrap.
kinda referring to MWO, but would love to see any of those make it in game.
A Dire without Meta Builds; 2 CLBX20 - 6 tons of ammo, 1 CUAC20 - 4 tons of ammo, and 2 CSRM6's - 2-3 tons of ammo (can't remember the ammo count while typing this for the CSRM6's)

Do you, by any chance, know what movement archetype it's using? It definitely feels like its worse at climbing hills than the Dragon, even when it's running faster.
Which is an absolute travesty! Because in lore, Quickdraw is supposed to be capable of climbing at steeper angles than other mechs of its weight.

I don't but it feels like it's Large, and I think the Dragon gets Medium? McGral seems to always know these things. Quickie certainly should be a "medium" archetype, also.

The Barfinator
It's only good once.
Note: ammo explosions are garaunteed.
that would be an impressive initial projectile vomit, though.

Clean-up Build; think it is 84 point all-over-alpha... oh, and no ghost heat.

that's how I am in my GRF-1N. Horribad build (I mean, real horribad) but somehow it's got a solid KDr and W/L. And did I mention it's like..:Jamarcus Russell bad a build?
I've always liked Quickdraws and Awesomes. Recently began liking my founders catapult again.again. Treb 7K I like as well, basically just turned it into a Hunchback.
